Glenavon FC are pleased to announce the signing of Deaglan Healy and Brandon Doyle from Ballyclare Comrades. 20-year-old Healy, who plays as an attacking midfielder, joins following a season where he featured in 22 games for Comrades following a move from St Oliver Plunkett’s in the Amateur League. Lurgan Blues boss Michael O’Connor believes Healy will add energy and composure to his side’s attack, saying, “Deaglan is an exciting young talent. That’s something the Glenavon fans have been used to over the last number of years and we’re hoping he can continue in that vein. He comes from good stock considering his brothers have both been around the Irish League for a good few years. They’re both solid pros and we believe Deaglan will apply himself in the same way and become an integral part of our squad as we push for promotion back to the Premiership.” Doyle, who captained the County Antrim club last season, scored 11 goals in 23 games and joins Glenavon following spells with Linfield, Warrenpoint Town, Annagh and Crusaders where he won the Irish Cup. O’Connor is pleased with the latest attacking addition to his squad. “Brandon is a player with great quality and an eye for goal. He’s been at some decent clubs and knows the responsibility that will be on his shoulders to provide the goals to put us in a position to push for promotion. It’s an opportunity he’s relishing and we’re excited to see him in action.” Both new players spoke exclusively to Glenavon Media after signing their contracts. See their interviews here.
