Glenavon FC's teenager Paul McGovern has joined Falkirk on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee. The 18-year-old winger netted eight goals last season in the Irish Premiership.
What happened?
McGovern began his career at Newry City and has also played at U19 level for Northern Ireland. He was the stand-out player for the Lurgan Blues despite the side being relegated to the Championship for the first time since 2005.
Why it matters for Glenavon FC
Glenavon FC is currently 12th in the Northern Ireland Premiership, with 25 points from 33 games, and a recent form of LLDDD. Their last result was a 2-3 loss to Carrick Rangers on 2026-04-25.
What comes next?
McGovern is the third new signing of the summer window for Falkirk as they aim to continue their strong form in the top flight. Bairns boss John McGlynn said the youngster has "huge potential". | Stat | Value | | League standing | 12th | | Points | 25 | | Recent form | LLDDD | | Last result | 2-3 loss to Carrick Rangers |
McGovern said: "I am delighted to be joining Falkirk. I had good options in England and Scotland, but I believe Falkirk is the right choice for me at this stage in my career.
